The mission of the Urban League of the Upstate is to enable African Americans and others in need to attain economic self-sufficiency through our advocacy, collaboration and targeted services focused on education, job training and employment.

Our Business Philosophy
The Urban League of the Upstate is an economic development agency that uses education and employment as its platform to create economic opportunities in the less affluent areas of Upstate South Carolina.
Advocacy
The Urban League advocates on a broad range of issues to improve the quality of life for minorities, disadvantaged people and others that have experienced discrimination.
The goals are to:
- Empower constituents to understand and protect their rights; help agencies provide accessible, accountable services to assist their customers in becoming self-sufficient.
- Educate and inform organizations and the public regarding issues that impact our constituents and the community at-large.
- Effect change in attitudes, policies, institutions and social conditions through collaborative problem solving.
